We provide visitors with an unparalleled art collection to reflect upon modern society.
Moco Amsterdam is housed in the Villa Alsberg, a townhouse overlooking Museumplein in the heart of Amsterdam (between the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum). The building was designed in 1904 by Eduard Cuypers, nephew of the renowned Pierre Cuypers, designer of Amsterdam Central Station and the Rijksmuseum. This privately-owned residence was one of the first family homes built along Museumplein and retained this function until 1939. Subsequently, the house was left to priests who taught at the Saint Nicolas School in Amsterdam, and later it was converted into an office for a law firm.
Moco Museum's space takeover of the Villa Alsberg is an act that goes hand in hand with our purpose: make art accessible to everyone and welcome all. From within Moco Museum, grows the mission and vision to express the endless power of art. A visit to Moco Museum puts you in the art center of Amsterdam with everything at your fingertips.
