From the 9th of March, Moco Museum Barcelona has the honor of welcoming within its walls the work of the most influential female artist society has known, Marina Abramović.

As a result of their ongoing quest to add more female artists to their collection, Moco Museum Barcelona will offer the opportunity to experience the work of Marina Abramović with this thoughtful piece. Miracle 3 is a testament to the conceptual artist's commitment to exploring the most pressing issues of our time and addressing them through her art. Miracles have played a role in everyday life since the beginning of humanity. For centuries, artists have aspired to represent the miraculous, a challenge that has generated the most compelling and moving art. With Miracle 3, the performance examines the harsh reality of war and its devastating impact on human life. The artwork is a representation of pain and despair. This piece will be inaugurated on March 9th by Marina Abramović, who will be present at Moco Museum Barcelona.

Marina Abramović

Miracle 3

Marina Abramović is a renowned Serbian artist that is leaving her mark on the world with performances that question the relationship between the artist and the audience. Recognized as one of the most significant artists of our time, Abramović has received numerous awards during her career including the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art (2008), the Golden Lion at Venice Biennale (1997), the Berlin Bear (2012) and the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts (2021). As a pioneer of performance as a visual art form, Abramović uses her body as the medium and the message by exploring physical limits. Confronting herself with pain, exhaustion, and danger, audiences are captivated by the artist’s chase of emotional and spiritual metamorphosis. The audience witnesses in front of their eyes how Abramović creates art from life. With the creation of the Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI), the artist created a platform for the exploration of durational performances that involve the audience and influence them to connect with themselves and others.

“My work is emotional, and I never hide anything” Marina Abramović
