Dmitri Cherniak is a generative NFT artist using algorithms to produce unique works of art.
“Automation is my artistic medium. Hand-coded goods.” – Dmitri Cherniak
Born in Canada, Cherniak first took a dive into the crypto pool in 2014 by “implementing Coinbase’s tripping widget to enable crowdfunding for Bitcoin journalism”. Famously, Dmitri created a unique p5js script stored on Ethereum via ArtBlocks which produces a unique generation of art automatically! The Ringer series by Dmitri Cherniak consists of 1,000 NFTS of different combos of strings and pegs to create unique geometric works of art.
As an engineer by education and trade, he sees the act of automation as a much more creative process than the public gives it credit for. In his artistic practice he uses software to automate the generation of unique art pieces in less than a fraction of a second. His hope is to elicit the same kind of emotions and reactions that people feel when viewing art that has been generated by hand, and help them consider automation as an art form and an act of creativity.
