Yayoi Kusama 90 years old
The immensely popular artist, Yayoi Kusama, will turn 90 years old on the 22nd of March. To celebrate her life and the amazing art Kusama has created, we will install an exhibition space fully dedicated to Kusama only.
It wil also be the first time the newest Kusama addition to our MoCollection will be shown: Night of Stars.
Despite her age, Yayoi Kusama’s art is more popular than ever among young art lovers. Everyone seems to love her dotted pumpkins and infinity mirrored rooms. You probably have seen these infinity rooms on Instagram, as it is a popular decor for a selfie on Instagram.
The life of Yayoi Kusama
The life of Yayoi Kusama is everything but easy going. In her childhood she suffered from her aggressive mother and found an outlet in drawing. Often she went out of the house to escape the violence, into the nature. She first experienced one of her hallucinations here, when she felt like the flowers were talking to her. These hallucinations inspired her to create the “Kusama world” as she calls it. A positive place where she hopes people will experience a joyful state of mind.
Yayoi Kusama’s pumpkin paintings are already part of our MoCollection
