Fashion artwork: The new wave of haute couture
A couple of shows at Paris Fashion 2019 went viral and here’s why. The haute couture houses brought us humor, playfulness and it looks like the start of a whole new fashion area, fashion artwork.
Fashion artwork: Viktor&Rolf
The show that went viral the most was the Viktor&Rolf show. Viktor&Rolf are known to make iconic fashion artwork, so this didn’t really come as a surprise but is still very fresh. They created these crazy big dresses with all our relatable moods and Insta quotes like;
- “Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come” and
- “I’m not shy, I just don’t like you”.
- They even created a green fashion artwork with a weed leaf that says “Amsterdam”!
Fashion artwork: Dior x Kaws
What did come as a surprise at the Paris fashion shows: the Dior x Kaws collaboration. This collection has a mix of streetwear and the classiness of Dior. The men’s collection is all black but has pink or blue Dior logo’s and pink bees on them. Brian Kaws Donnelly created the KAWS bees. They also created a saddle bag to match the outfits alongside with the sneakers imprinted with the Dior logo allover and very oversized sunglasses.

Fashion artwork: Louis Vuitton x Jeff Koons
Louis Vuitton and Jeff Koons are collaborating to create a new collection of bags and accessoires. The bags in this new collection are re-creations of paintings by da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh. These artwork bags represent the famous artists of the past with on the back the signature of Jeff Koons.
Never heard of KAWS? The artist Brian Donnelly makes these characters that are really popular in the street art community. But he now also collaborates with high fashion brand to create fashion artwork. If you want to see one of these creatures of KAWS come and walk over to the Moco Museum and walk into Moco Garden!
