Art Girl Rising
Art Girl Rising
NOW is the time for change. Women have never been treated equally in the art world, and that is a sad reality.
Facts are facts, and it’s confronting.
- Only 13.7% of living artists represented by galleries in Europe and North America are women.
- Of the 100 most expensive artworks ever sold, NONE is by a woman.
- Of the visual artists in the US, nearly half are women. However, they earn only 74cents for every dollar made by male artists.
- Overall, 96.1% of artworks sold at auction are by male artists.
