Job description

As Operations Manager you are responsible for the day to day running of the Amsterdam museum operation, leading your teams and creating unique experiences for visitors.

You are visitor-oriented, pragmatic and you have an entrepreneurial mindset. The amical interaction between colleagues is what characterises Moco and this is something you safeguard. You provide a safe working climate in which there is room for initiatives and fun! The visitor experience is what matters to you most. You are the linking pin between all departments within the Museum.


  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Museum
  • Lead a team of 40 Crew, Duty Managers, Shop Sales Crew, Facilities and external Contractors
  • Apply a highly commercial approach to all initiatives, ensuring results are continuously optimized across our ticket sales and shop.
  • Recruitment, induct and develop new team members
  • Achieve consistent high visitor experience through visitor and staff satisfaction initiatives as well as cleanliness and repair & maintenance checks.
  • Operational P&L responsibility, covering all costs lines
  • Drawing up plans and project proposals, considering budgets and cost efficiencies.
  • Carry responsibility for- and writing a security- and cleaning policy, emergency response and evacuation plans and protocols that guarantee safety of everyone in collaboration with the Floor Manager External Affairs.
  • Draw up, maintain, and check personnel schedules and budgets
  • Do the general follow-up of constructional progress, and draw up maintenance plans in collaboration with the Facilities department.
  • Discuss contracts with suppliers, cleaning, security, maintenance, etc. and you follow up on the discussed contracts to maintain the level of quality.
  • Be the point of contact for any permits, applications, and municipal issues.
  • Ensure events run smoothly


  • The ideal candidate has strong operational experience in an international Hotel Chain as Rooms Division Manager, Front Office Manager or F&B Manager of a large property or similar operational roles. You are ambitious and not afraid to take on new challenges. You are a manager with an entrepreneurial mindset and get enthused about working for, and growing with, our unique museum concept.
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar Higher Vocational degree
  • Relevant knowledge and working experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Living in Amsterdam area
  • Excellent command of Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Evernote and Asana
  • Fluent in English and preferably Dutch
