Job description

As the IT Manager at Moco, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Information Technology (IT) department to support Head Office and the Amsterdam museum's operations and growth. You will work with our IT Agency to manage IT infrastructure and operations, develop and implement IT policies and procedures, and ensure the availability, security, and reliability of IT systems and networks. You will work closely with other departments and stakeholders to align IT strategies with the museum's artistic and business objectives, and provide technical expertise to support the museum's exhibitions, events, and visitor experience. Last but not least, you will lead the implementation/upgrade of several core company systems such as HRMS, POS, WMS, P2P, etc.

As such, the successful candidate will have a multi-year background in IT Management and project management, and experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.This is a roll-up-your sleeves type of role and we can’t wait for you to get stuck in!

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing business responsibilities in collaboration with our IT Agency:
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the efficient and effective operation of IT systems and networks, while adhering to industry best practices and data protection regulations.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, network, and telecommunications systems, to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Manage IT operations, including system backups, disaster recovery, and security measures, to ensure data protection and system availability for the museum's exhibitions, events, and business operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to support other departments and stakeholders in leveraging technology to enhance the museum's artistic and business goals, including audio-visual systems, interactive exhibits, and online platforms.
  • Monitor and analyze IT performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate solutions to optimize IT operations and support the museum's evolving needs.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and make recommendations for IT advancements to enhance the museum's digital capabilities, visitor experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including procurement, contract negotiations, and performance evaluations, to ensure cost-effective IT solutions and services.
  • Develop and manage IT budgets, forecasts, and expense control measures to ensure prudent financial management of IT resources.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, including system configurations, user manuals, and standard operating procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and IT service continuity.
  • Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation of a new HRMS, POS, WMS, Purchase to Pay and other core systems.
  • Work on implementing our wider IT strategy, ensure the selection of the right systems and tools.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements for IT projects, ensuring they align with the organization’s overall strategy and goals.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Ensure project timelines and deliverables are communicated effectively to all stakeholders, and that project progress is tracked and reported on regularly.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and changes, and ensure that appropriate mitigation strategies are put in place.
  • Manage project budgets, tracking actual costs against planned budgets, and reporting on variances.
  • Work closely with technical teams, ensuring that technical requirements are understood and delivered, and that technical risks and issues are effectively managed.
  • Work with external vendors and contractors, ensuring that they deliver to agreed requirements, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure that appropriate project governance and methodologies are followed, and that project documentation is maintained to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an IT Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the arts and culture industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in IT systems, networks, infrastructure, and operations, with experience in audio-visual systems and interactive exhibits being a plus.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and experience in implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to convey complex technical concepts in simple terms.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze situations, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Professional certifications, such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco, are a plus.
  • Passion for art and culture, and a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance the museum's artistic and visitor experience.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Dutch speaking is a pro but not a must.
